Kafer dial thickness gage
with 16" deep throat

At ~16" these thickness gages have the largest throat depth we can offer. The inch or metric reading gage is designed for measurement of relatively soft materials such as felt, foam, elastics, leather, plastics and other compressible fabrics. The extra large 30 mm diameter flat anvils allow a precise measurement to be taken without unduly compressing the material. If, for some reason you prefer a smaller anvil, this will have to be specified at the time of ordering. There is no extra charge for different sized anvils.

The anvils are closed when at rest. Depressing the lever causes the anvil to rise, which allows you to insert the material to be measured. The anvil closes under its own weight which is constant from one measuring sample to the next. The measuring force is 1.2 N but can be customized. You will have to request a custom measuring force when the order is placed. Additional measuring force can be added with weights placed above the indicator as shown below. These weights are optional.

Models with 8" throat depths, both inch and metric, are shown on page 168. Other sizes can be found on page 96.

Digital Models or Higher Resolution

These deep throat thickness gages are available only in mechanical versions. The frame, because of its size, is not sufficiently stable for the high resolution of a digital indicator.
