This inch or metric reading dial thickness gage is designed for measurement of relatively soft materials such as felt, foam, elastics, leather, plastics and other compressible fabrics. The extra large 30 mm diameter flat anvils allow a precise measurement to be taken without unduly compressing the material. This hand held gage also has a convenient 4" (100 mm) deep throat. The anvils are closed when at rest. Depressing the lever at the top of the indicator causes the anvil to rise, which allows you to insert the material to be measured. The anvil closes under its own weight which is constant from one measuring sample to the next. The measuring force is 1.2 N but can be customized to as little as .5 N. You will have to request a custom measuring force when the order is placed. These gages are imported from Germany.
Your thickness gage can have the large 30 mm anvils (type A) pictured above (for soft, compressible material such as foam, leather and fabric).
Thickness gage with round anvils (type E) shown above (for metal sheets and hard flat surfaces).
